The Sims has been around since the year 2000. The Sims series of games offer a real-life of sorts, under the control of the players of the game. This series allows players to build their own societies and the people within them with great detail. Of course, all the characters in the games are known as “Sims.” Created by Electronic Arts, known as EA by gamers, the Sims series often expands. Now, we’re on the fourth installment, and Sims 4 is bringing something new yet again!
Users can do a lot with their sims from changing their physical traits to their personalities. The sims are then placed to communicate with each other, even fall in love or get into fights. Of course, they kept their original format of creating cities and buildings in play for each game.
Sims 4 was released on September 2, 2014, but new content has been coming ever since.
The new expansion packs come every half year or so (it’s kind of inconsistent). It can truly change the sims universe each time they bring in an update. Often, these updates or expansions include improved, crisp graphics and some changes to the controls.
Obviously, due to user control, the game has been quite progressive and allows the LGBTQ+ community to join in on the fun too. Heck, all sims can be changed on sex/gender or be gender-neutral. This also involves wearing clothing normally designed for men & women, which is where the new Sims 4 update comes in.
South Korean Fashion Added To The Sims 4

This could be either clothing or building materials. The most recent kit released includes 22 clothing items based on Seoul, South Korea’s highly trending airport fashion. EA has added several other cultures’ fashion trends and traditional wear, specifically from Mexico and India.
A partner in the making of the kit, Jazzy Cho, discussed the new fashion addition to The Sims 4 game. Cho is a TV host, content creator, and Miss Korea USA 2016. She referenced how popular it is to see celebrities, especially at the Incheon airport (a famous airport in South Korea). Some have started to adopt this new fashion trend, making it even more popular.
Airport fashion is a style that takes a casual approach to high fashion. Think stuff like sweaters, baggy clothing, and usually in black, white, and brown. When Korean stars are traveling, they want to be comfortable while maintaining a high-end style for the public to see.
Airport fashion incorporates a lot of Korea’s ancient styles. The Hanbok is a traditional style of clothing from ancient Korea (as early as 38 BC). They are very sharp and they have lots of colors and patterns. Woman’s Hanboks are high-waisted and had full skirts. Men’s Hanboks were along the same lines, however, the waist may be lower.
Celebrities that arrive or leave the Incheon International Airport set the trends. If a star is wearing something that especially pops to the audience, that is the new trend.

Visitors can buy anything vintage, handmade, or designer. All kinds of styles from all over the world are found in the shopping center. Fashion street also provides music, food, and job opportunities for people interested in the fashion and business industry.
Electronic Arts are working together with Shruti Sitara Singh–native to Mumbai to bring India’s fashion trends and styles to the Sim 4 Universe. A kit recently added to the Origin store on October 5th includes 26 items of clothing and accessories.
Singh creates stories that bring together art, music, theater, design, and culture. Making them perfect to partner with for this new addition to the Sims 4 universe.
Indian clothing is very brightly colored and uses many baggy looks. A specific item in the kit is an evening dress that takes after a traditional sari. Of course, a sari is an article of clothing (like a large shawl) that women drape over the body.
In an interview with Electronic Arts, Singh pointed out EA added the wrap skirt to the kit. She mentions that the skirt inspiration came from a group of women in Mumbai known as the Koli Fishing Community. This group has fished in Mumbai’s waters for several generations.
