Snow White is a beloved tale by people all over the world. The story tells of an “Evil Queen” named Grimhilde that is so jealous of the princess’ beauty that she poisons her. The princess falls into a deep sleep and awaits her true love to come and wake her. Of course, the story was adapted from the original Brothers Grimm story from the early 1800s.
Part of Grimm’s Fairy Tales, Snow White came under the “Tale 53” moniker in their book. They officially gave it a German name initially, referred to as Sneewittchen.
Walt Disney would adapt the tale into his first full-length animated production. Directors have made this movie several times and added their own spin to it time and time again. However, now Disney is planning to bring the original back to life.
You might be wondering, how do they plan to do this? Simple. By creating a live-action remake of the classic tale. Only this time, they won’t make the actress sign a lifelong contract preventing her from taking another role where her voice will be heard.
Snow White’s Live-Action Remake
Disney is always coming out with new material that keeps fans coming back for more. The live-action movie community is bustling with adaptations of their previous releases. The Walt Disney Company has already created live-action versions of Aladdin, The Lion King, Cinderella, Cruella, and others.Coming next year, Disney is renewing the 1937 classic Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs. The Disney company has had some pretty big success with most live-action films. However, Mulan might have been one of the few examples of movies that just did not work out well. Yet we can partially blame the 2020 Pandemic and Chinese pandering for that.
Beauty & The Beast, while loved by many, was also disliked by others. The same came with Aladdin and even Cinderella, as some people cannot seem to get past the original animated versions. Disney likely feels there is really no way that Snow White could fail in live-action.

The original animated creation was the most successful movie of that time. It made a profit of $8 million within the 1930s market. That is equal to roughly $132 million when adjusting for inflation. The original budget was $1.5 million too, meaning Walt Disney profited heavily.
Cast And Crew
American Singer and Songwriter, Rachel Zegler, is the woman Disney cast as Snow White for this adaptation. Zegler is an up-and-coming actress who took on the lead role of Maria in the new West Side Story directed by Steven Spielberg. That movie is due out this December, so we will see if she has the chops to truly nail the Snow White performance in 2022.Additionally, Israeli actor and Wonder Woman Gal Gadot has been cast as the Evil Queen. Gadot has usually played heroic figures in her most known roles. Thus, this move to make her the main villain in a film is a big jump for her. It’ll be interesting to see how she becomes the villainous Queen we know from the original film.
Most of the original music will be featured. However, Disney also brought in Benj Pasek & Justin Paul. They are most known for being the men behind the hit Broadway musical Dear Evan Hanson & the film La La Land. They also formed the music for The Greatest Showman and even added some killer music for The Flash television series. The Tony & Oscar-winning duo will likely make the music incredibly powerful. Disney isn’t playing around here.
Not much more information about the film has leaked yet. However, Disney always adds something extra to their live-action movies that did not take place in the previous animated films. Such as adding another song for Jasmine in Aladdin. It is uncertain if they will do the same for this film, but it is clear that Disney will want this film to be perfect. Considering how important Snow White is to the company.
