There has already been exciting news, such as an expanded bestiary that is expected to drop in January of 2022. Yet the “Next evolution” of Dungeons and Dragons is set to arrive in 2024. However, Wizards of the Coast had been busy working on new D&D content for THIS year, then decided to drop it on us like a ton of bricks. Yet we’re not complaining.
Written from the perspective of the Fizban the Fabulous, this book is a collection of tips, tricks, and information about the ways of the great dragons. Fizban isn’t merely a scholar dedicated to the lore of dragons, he is the great god of the dragons, Bahamut.
This draconic god of justice, in his dragon form, is 180 feet long with platinum scales along his body. One of Bahamut’s finest traits, however, was his love and fascination with the human race. He would periodically travel amongst the human under the guise of “Fizban.” Of course, this is our titular narrator of the Treasury of Dragons.
Take a look at what the Fabulous Fizban has to offer his new disciples.
Two New Sub-Classes

Either could give your ranger a pet dragon or allow your monk to utilize the advantages of a dragon’s breath weapon. Fizban allows each player to customize their character to better align themselves with their draconic brethren.
Drakewarden Ranger:
The ranger as a character class is skilled in archery, animal tracking, and hunting. One of the benefits of playing as a ranger is the ability to acquire a companion animal during your journey. This new ranger sub-class accounts for your ranger meeting a drake along his travels. It also allows him to bond with this dragon as his companion.
This bond between your ranger and his draconic friend grows with your character. If that’s not enough, your character will even be allowed to ride this dragon into battle starting at level 7!
Way of the Ascendant Dragon Monk:
When playing as a monk, your character has been deftly trained in the martial arts. In Fizban’s Treasury, the monk class is now able to combine their combat training with the power of the dragons. Who doesn’t want a monk who can fly or cause lightning damage with a single punch?
This sub-class of monks studies the way of the dragons with such fervor that they become imbued with the power of the dragons. When they reach level 6, they gain the ability to fly at the same speed as their walking distance.

Although, not much is known about the chromatic and gem Dragonborn. Yet WotC has given us an inside look at metallic Dragonborns and their breath weapons.
Metallic Dragon Borns:
One of the benefits of playing as a metallic Dragonborn is the addition of a second breath weapon upon reaching level 3. The player is given the choice between two types of breath weapons: repulsion breath or enervating breath. Repulsion breath knocks your enemies prone, whereas enervating breath incapacitates them.
The Role Of Gem Dragons:
If you have been playing D&D for a while, then you might remember the Gem dragons from back in the 3rd edition. These neutral, narcissistic dragons were known for their hides made of gemstones. Now, they are coming back into the material planes after a long hiatus from the world of D&D.
These unique and colorful dragons will add another extra layer of intrigue and adventure to each dungeon master’s game.
